Umbria is the green heart of Italy — less visited than Tuscany, more authentic, and in many ways more beautiful. The Duomo Cathedral, the Tempio di Santa Maria della Consolazione, and the medieval streets of Spello feel genuinely undiscovered. Civita di Bagnoregio is one of those places that people photograph and assume is painted — it is real, accessible only by footbridge, and slowly eroding into the valley below.
